Your Meeting Experience

Plan

The best way to prepare for the meeting? Plan in advance! Check the meeting homepage regularly for new and updated events and information.

Online Program

Once published, add the Online Program to the home screen of your smartphone or bookmark it in your devices’ internet browsers. View, add, and sync presentations, sessions, and events to create your own custom itinerary.

Dress code

Conference attire is business casual. Session rooms can be cold, so dress in layers. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking a lot!

Chicago weather in October is dry and cool with average temperatures ranging from 45-60°F (7°-15°C). Check the forecast and plan accordingly.

What to bring
  • Business Cards – With ample time to network, have plenty of cards ready to distribute.
  • Day bag – Between early sessions and evening poster presentations, meeting days are long. Bring a backpack or briefcase to carry items you need as there are few opportunities to return to your hotel room during the day.
  • Reusable water bottle and coffee mug – Go green!
  • Notebook and pen – While it may sound obvious, always have these on hand.
Who to ask

ECS staff members are easily identified. Look for our signature polo shirts with ECS logos or nametags with “Staff” ribbons. We are happy to answer your questions or listen to feedback. To discuss specific questions or concerns before the meeting, contact meetings@electrochem.org.

Travel resources

To request an ECS Letter of Invitation, fill out the official “Visa Letter Request Form.” Upon receiving your Letter of Invitation, take it to your nearest consulate or embassy to begin the visa application process. The ECS Letter of Invitation does not constitute an application for a visa; ECS cannot guarantee that it will enable you to obtain a visa.

Letters of Attendance

Individuals requiring an official letter of attendance should visit the “Letters of Attendance” self-help computer in the onsite registration area. After the online form is completed, the letter is emailed within two weeks of the end of the meeting.

Financial assistance

To assist students, postdoctoral researchers, and young professionals attend ECS biannual meetings, many ECS divisions offer travel grants. Applications, which are available online, must be received by June 23, 2025. Additional financial assistance is limited and generally governed by symposium organizers. Contact the organizers of the symposium in which you are presenting a paper to determine if additional funding is available. Contact travelgrant@electrochem.org with general travel grant questions.

Publish your presentation

All abstract authors are encouraged to submit their papers to the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES), ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology (JSS), ECS Advances (ECSA), or ECS Sensors Plus (ECSSP). While there is no submission deadline, six months is considered sufficient time to revise an abstract to meet stricter journal standards. Journal submissions must be made using the JES, JSS, ECSA, or ECSSP online submission systems. ECS journals now offer open access. Learn more about ECS Author Choice Open Access.
