The Carl Wagner Memorial Award was established in 1980 to recognize mid-career achievement, excellence in research areas of interest of the Society, and significant contributions in the teaching or guidance of students or colleagues in education, industry, or government.
Current ECS Vice President and Director of the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute and Crentz Centennial Chair in Energy Research, Eric Wachsman, was the winner of the 2017 prize and presented an award talk called Mixed Protonic—Electronic Membrane Reactors; Converting Hydrocarbon Resources and CO2 to Fuels.
The award consists of a silver medal and a corresponding wall plaque, complimentary meeting registration for award recipient and companion, a dinner held in recipient’s honor and Society Life Membership. The next Wagner Award will be recognized at the 236th ECS meeting in Atlanta, GA in October 2019.
