Focus Issue on Characterization of Corrosion Processes in Honor of Philippe Marcus

The Journal of The Electrochemical Society will publish a focus issue in connection with the fifth symposium on High Resolution Characterization of Corrosion Processes: In Honor of Philippe Marcus taking place during PRiME 2020.

Characterization techniques are being applied in novel and innovative ways, often in situ during corrosion studies, to obtain new information about corroding systems. This focus issue highlights exciting applications of techniques that are highly resolved in space and/or time and used to elucidate kinetics and mechanisms of underlying electrochemical reactions.

Philippe Marcus is director of research at CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) and head of the research group of physical chemistry of surfaces at the Institut de Recherche de Chimie Paris, at Chimie ParisTech, France. Philippe has published over 450 papers in surface chemistry, surface electrochemistry, and corrosion science. Marcus received the Corrosion Division H. H. Uhlig Award (2005) from The Electrochemical Society, Whitney Award (2008) from NACE International, Cavallaro Medal (2008) of the European Federation of Corrosion, U.R. Evans Award (2010) of the UK Institute of Corrosion, the Lee Hsun Award of the Institute of Metals Research (2012) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Olin Palladium Award (2017) from The Electrochemical Society. He is a Fellow of The Electrochemical Society (2005) and the International Society of Electrochemistry (2009).
