Congratulations to award recipient Youngjin Ham
The ECS Korea Section Student Award was established in 2005 to recognize a Korean university PhD student’s academic accomplishments in any area of science or engineering in which electrochemical and/or solid state science and technology is the central consideration. The winner receives a US $500 prize. Dr. Ham joins a distinguished list of ECS Korea Section Student Award winners.
Youngjin Ham
Dr. Ham recently received her PhD from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Her research focused mainly on the development of strategic design principles for multidimensional electrodes towards practical organic batteries and biocatalytic CO2 reduction, as published in Energy & Environmental Science (14, 5894, 2021) and Advanced Energy Materials (9, 1900029, 2019). Throughout her PhD, she pursued approaches spanning the engineering of electrode architectures via 3D nanopatterning technique and molecular-level control of redox functionality using graphene-based materials. Her work has been highlighted in more than 30 media outlets and recognized by several awards including the Korea Institute of Materials Science’s 2022 Best Academic Paper Award.

ECS distinguishes outstanding technical achievements in electrochemistry and solid state science and technology, and recognizes exceptional service to the Society through the Honors & Awards Program. Recognition opportunities exist in the following categories: Society, Division, and Section Awards. ECS provides a number of fellowships and student awards to reward achievements by students and early-career professionals.
The nomination deadline for the ECS Korea Section Student Award is December 31 annually.
