The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC_CH) Sustainable Energy Research Consortium (SERC) has held eight conferences since 2012, either as standalone meetings or as symposia synergistically aligned with a regional ACS meeting. This year, there are sessions on four themes in energy storage:

Speakers from the State of North Carolina are in focus, reflecting a goal to build regional community and connect academic researchers with local industry. Young voices are highlighted in the event, with two graduate students and two postdoctoral scholars to be selected from poster abstracts. A special professional development session for early career researchers is featured. This session aims to discuss the importance of scientific writing in multiple career paths, including scientific publishing and industrial chemistry.

A panel discussion on emerging electrochemical energy (battery) technologies and industries in the state of North Carolina is a highlight at the end of the conference.
