Wolfgang Zeier from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and Helmholtz-Institut Münster presents “Understanding (effective) ionic transport in solids and solid-state batteries.”

The Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology (BCST) is holding its fall board meeting on November 8, 2022, from 1400-1700h EST. You are invited to join the public portion of this meeting on alternative chemistries for advanced batteries. In addition to a project introduction, there will also be several presentations on the circular economy for energy materials, critical materials for the clean energy transition, and opportunities for chemistry in energy storage for climate change. Additionally, there will be discussions between BCST and the various presenters speaking during the meeting.

Congratulations to Seiji Ichikawa, Daichi Yasufuku, Ryosuke Nishiizumi, and Weijie Cao

Dr. Lyons congratulates Seiji Ichikawa, 1st place winner.

The Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells & Electrolyzers 22 (PEFC&E 22) symposium at the 242nd ECS Meeting hosted its annual student poster competition on October 10, 2022. Some 30 students submitted posters to the competition. Dr. James (Jim) Fenton led the group of senior fuel cell and electrolysis researchers, which judged the posters for technical content and visual presentation.

ECS and PEFC&E 22 thank the Office of Naval Research, the competition’s funder. A total of USD $3,000 was awarded for four prizes. Join Dr. Karen Swider Lyons, PEFC&E 22 symposium chair, in congratulating the winners!

ECS is excited to share that starting on January 1, 2023, all researchers affiliated with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), one of the largest universities in Mexico and Latin America, will be able to read ECS content and publish open access in ECS journals at no direct cost to the author. ECS’s publishing partner, IOP Publishing (IOPP), has reached an unlimited transformative agreement with UNAM, which furthers the mission of open science and removes financial barriers that many authors face in their desire to publish their work open access.

More Open Access from ECS

Paywall comes down from October 24-30

ECS participates in its seventh International Open Access Week from October 24-30, bringing down the paywall to over 171,000 journal and magazine articles and meeting abstracts. The ECS Digital Library on IOPscience is free and accessible to everyone that week. SPARC, the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition, organizes the annual global event to focus attention and inspire momentum toward the open sharing of knowledge.
