The Electrochemical Society, The Electrochemical Society of Japan, and The Korean Electrochemical Society are actively monitoring the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and working to prepare for any potential impact on the upcoming PRiME 2020 meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, from October 4-9, 2020.

At present, we are proceeding as planned with abstract submissions and all other preparations for PRiME 2020. In order to provide authors with as much time as possible, we are formally extending the abstract submission for PRiME from April 17 to May 1, 2020. (more…)

Every day, all over the world, scientists are making new discoveries to advance theory and practice at the forefront of electrochemical and solid state science and technology, and allied subjects. See them all at PRiME 2020.

ECS and IMCS Montreal Meeting Update

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the ECS Board of Directors, we are writing to share the news that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic we are faced with the unfortunate, albeit inevitable decision to cancel the 237th Meeting of the Electrochemical Society, scheduled for Montreal, Canada May 10-14. In addition, the collocated International Meeting on Chemical Sensors (IMCS), has voted to postpone their meeting to a date that has yet to be determined. (more…)

ECS Upcoming Meeting Status

Dear ECS Members and Constituents,

Because the health and safety of our community is our top priority, we at ECS Headquarters continue to closely monitor the developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the impact it will have on ECS activities.

As of this writing, the 237th ECS Meeting with IMCS 2020 are planned to take place as scheduled in Montréal, Canada, May 10-14, 2020.

UPDATE: MARCH 11 MEETING CANCELED

Dear ECS Detroit Section Members and Colleagues,

The safety of our members and communities remains ECS-Detroit’s overriding priority. As a way to increase precautionary health measures as the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak continues to evolve and spread globally, including within the United States, The Electrochemical Society Detroit Section has decided to cancel the March meeting on Wednesday, March 11.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will update you with the information about April Meeting.

We appreciate your interests and understanding. Thank you for your continuous support.

Symposium C04: Light Alloys 6: In Honor of Hideaki Takahashi

Symposium focus: This symposium will be held in honor of Professor Hideaki Takahashi for his outstanding achievements in the field of corrosion and surface treatments of light metals, particularly anodizing of aluminum and its alloys.

It will provide a forum for discussion of recent results related to corrosion and surface treatments of aluminum, magnesium, titanium and their alloys. Papers are invited on a broad range of fundamental and applied topics including local corrosion processes, environmental fracture, corrosion behavior of advanced light metals and alloys, modeling and prediction of corrosion damage accumulation, surface treatments, including anodizing and conversion coatings, of light metals and alloys for corrosion protection, formation of functional micro-/nano-structured oxide films. New thinking and new insights on oxide growth, environmentally friendly coatings, localized corrosion, and cracking mechanisms and corrosion protection mechanisms are especially encouraged. (more…)

Symposium M02: Chemical Sensors 13: Recent Advances in Chemical and Biological Sensors and Analytical Systems

Symposium focus: This symposium will provide a forum for the broad discussion of research and development in the field of chemical and biological sensors, including molecular recognition surfaces, transduction methods, and integrated/microsensor systems.

All authors accepted for presentation are strongly encouraged to submit their full text for the issue of this symposium’s proceedings published in ECS Transactions. The ECS Transactions (ECST) manuscript submission site opens to authors on July 17, 2020, and then closes on August 7, 2020 (https://www.electrochem.org/prime-2020-planning-deadlines). (more…)

Symposium H06: Nonvolatile Memories and Artificial Neural Networks

Symposium focus:

This symposium will focus on the following topics:

1. Ultrahigh density, fast switching memories beyond 3D NAND flash;
2. New trend of nonvolatile memories showing fast switching and ultra-low power consumption such as FeRAM and STT-MRAM;
3. Neuromorphic devices and their use for artificial neurons, synapses, and memristors with plasticity. Typically, OxRAM, CBRAM, and PCM capable of realizing STDP (spike time dependent plasticity) for neural networks. (more…)
