The ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology is publishing a focus issue in connection with the 241st ECS Meeting Carbon Nanostructures and Devices symposia.

The ECS Nanocarbon Division offers eight to 10 symposia covering different aspects of nanocarbon research in the Society’s spring meeting and a general nanocarbon symposium in the fall meeting. About 15-20 percent of the presented papers in the spring meeting are from symposia offered by the nanocarbon division. Researchers across the globe participate in these meetings.

This focus issue is intended to encourage the up-and-coming younger generation of scientists working on nanocarbons to participate in ECS Nanocarbon Division activities and publish their work in Society journals. This intended high-impact issue will provide up-to-date information on all areas of nanocarbon research. (more…)

The Electrochemical Society is proud to announce the Society’s distinguished members recognized as 2021 Highly Cited Researchers. The prestigious list, published by the Web of Science Group at Clarivate Analytics, identifies scientists and social scientists who produced multiple papers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations for their field and year of publication, demonstrating significant research influence among their peers.

The total number of highly cited researchers in 2021 was 6,602, which includes 2,828 for cross-field performance and 3,774 in specific fields. According to Clarivate, Highly Cited Researchers are one in 1,000 of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists.

Research by the following ECS members is shaping scientific discourse today and into the future. (more…)

The Electrochemical Society is excited to invite you to our on-site “Meet the Editor” event at the 241st ECS Meeting. Five esteemed editors of our family of journals will be at the ECS booth to connect with you; answer your questions on journal processes; and discuss editorial opportunities and the vision for ECS Publications growth. As you determine your personal meeting schedule, take this opportunity to connect directly with ECS Publications Editorial Team members! (more…)

The Journal of The Electrochemical Society is publishing a focus issue in connection with the 241st ECS Meeting Nucleation and Growth symposium.

This focus issue aims to capture the latest findings and insights related to phase transformation in electrochemical systems. Contributions for this cross-disciplinary pursuit are sought from researchers with diverse expertise and backgrounds reporting on the latest experimental and computational approaches to understanding nucleation and growth phenomena during electrodeposition and dissolution.

Modern imaging, scattering, and spectroscopy tools along with related methods are enhancing our understanding of phase transformations across a wide range of length scales. In the case of electrodeposition, nucleation and growth play a central role in applications ranging from microelectronics and MEMS to energy conversion and storage systems. This focus issue brings together researchers with diverse expertise and backgrounds to share new experimental and computational approaches to enable progress in the mechanistic understanding of nucleation and growth phenomena. Interest is focused on resolving and explaining the morphological, structural, and compositional evolution of electrode surfaces during electrodeposition. Understanding shape selection, stability criteria, and exploring engineering strategies aimed at specific technological ends are also of interest. (more…)

IOP announces a significant investment in the range of ECS Digital Library on IOP Science features. The investment is part of ECS’s and IOP’s commitment to ensuring the platform’s functionality, accessibility, performance, and security. In the coming weeks, to modernise and improve the platform, a small number of features will be temporarily unavailable with some withdrawn completely where usage is low or alternatives are available. This is necessary to replace old technologies with modern, secure, scalable cloud services with improved functioning and reliability. (more…)

For over thirty years, The Electrochemical Society Interface magazine has been the voice of ECS members. The Society’s for-members by-members publication has shared announcements of great achievements, awards, and milestones; technical information; and hot topics from the community—including announcements of losses and memorials. For years, ECS members enjoyed having Interface reach their mailboxes and rest on their coffee tables. However, the organization has grown and its membership spans the globe. The importance of minimizing one’s carbon footprint has risen in criticality. Therefore, as the organization seeks to expand its reach digitally, Interface will no longer be printed, packed, and shipped to members. It will be available exclusively on the ECS Digital Library.
