The Electrochemical Society (ECS) seeks to fill the position of sensors technical editor for the Journal of The Electrochemical Society.

ECS has been long-heralded as the nonprofit home of the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES), its flagship journal. Published continuously from 1902 to the present, JES, the oldest peer-reviewed journal in its field, remains one of the most-highly cited journals in electrochemistry with a cited half-life of greater than 10 years. JES and the ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology (JSS) provide unparalleled opportunities to disseminate basic research and technology results in electrochemical and solid state science and technology. JES publishes a minimum of 10 regular and up to six focus issues each year and offers author choice open access.
To recognize the innovative research gaining attention across the diverse span of its topical interest areas, the Society highlights the top five most-downloaded journal articles in each TIA during each quarter of the year.

ECS is pleased to announce that articles published in its two peer-reviewed journals, the Journal of The Electrochemical Society and the ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology, are being indexed in Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science (WoS) faster than ever before—on a rolling, article-by-article basis.
How did it work before? Until recently, WoS indexed ECS journals upon issue close, and it could take about six weeks from the close of an issue for receipt/delivery to WoS. This means if the first article in an issue was published at the beginning of the month, and the last published at the end of the month, the first article could go 10 weeks or more before being indexed in WoS. Sixteen new issues of ECS Transactions (ECST) have just been published for the upcoming ECS and SMEQ Joint International Meeting (AiMES 2018).
ECST volume 86, issues 1 to 16 can now be accessed online through the ECS Digital Library.

Join ECS as it celebrates Peer Review Week 2018 (September 10-15), the fourth annual installment of an international event dedicated to recognizing and examining the pivotal role that peer review plays in scholarly communication.
The theme of this year’s Peer Review Week is “Diversity in Peer Review.” The week’s events, which will consist of in-person seminars, webinars, interviews, and social media activities, will focus upon the importance of diversity and inclusion in peer review.

This year’s theme is “Designing Equitable Foundations for Open Knowledge.” ECS is taking down the paywall October 22-28 from the entire ECS Digital Library, making over 141,000 scientific articles and abstracts free and accessible to everyone.
This is the fourth consecutive year ECS will take down its paywalls during Open Access Week, an annual event organized by SPARC, the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition. Eliminating the paywall during Open Access Week allows ECS to give the world a preview of the potential of its Free the Science initiative.
Free the Science is ECS’s move toward a future that embraces open science to further advance research in our field. This is a long-term vision for transformative change in the traditional models of communicating scholarly research. ECS last opened its digital library in April 2018 for the second Free the Science Week.
“ECS is working to disseminate scientific research to the broadest possible audience without barriers,” says Mary Yess, ECS chief content officer/publisher. “Through Open Access Week, we’re able to once again highlight a new scholarly publishing model that promotes authors and the science they do.”
