MAJOR FUNCTION

Responsible for the support and development of community engagement programs and execution of other various ECS programs and activities. Facilitates growth of the Society’s educational programming and activities to enhance continuing education offerings. Coordinates participation and execution of section and student chapter programs, student membership program, and student and section engagement throughout the Society. Promotes and increases engagement in outreach and professional development services like the ECS Career Center. Serves as staff liaison for section and student chapter relations, and works closely with staff and volunteer leaders to ensure that these relationships support the Society’s goals and objectives

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Responsible for the awarded student and student chapter membership programs which include: developing collateral materials, managing student engagement and retention, and increasing the conversion rate of student members to professional members.
  2. Responsible for section membership and program development which include: section engagement, section member recruitment and retention, collateral development for section programs including meetings and related budget items.
  3. Supports and executes education and outreach programs to engage key stakeholders with ECS including Short Course Education, Professional Development Workshops, Summer Fellowships, Travel Grants, Outstanding Student Chapter Awards, etc.
  4. Oversees the ECS Career Center and associated career development programs.
  5. Liaises with the Director of Community Engagement and Finance Department on the budget process through the netFORUM database for associated programs.
  6. Works with available resources to create and distribute applicable brochures, signage, and collateral.
  7. Researches and identifies potential student chapter program opportunities to pursue and charter; reviews and updates the student chapter profiles within the netForum database, records, and pipeline. Maintains records of all past and current approaches to student chapter development and programs.
  8. Researches and identifies potential section program opportunities for ECS to pursue; reviews and updates the section profiles within the netForum database, records, and pipeline. Maintains records of all past and current approaches to section development and programs.
  9. Create and review collateral material for Interface, Meeting Programs, eNews, Weekly Digest and ECS websites, in collaboration with the Directors of Community Engagement, Meetings, and Publications.
  10. Responsible for section and student chapter updates for the ECS website, publications, and other marketing materials.
  11. Provides additional support of the Society’s Association Management Software (netFORUM) and uses other specialized software (homegrown, etc.) to manage reports, data, and documents. Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accordingly.
  12. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.
POSITION RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Reports to the Director of Community Engagement. Has regular contact with all ECS Departments and staff members in the performance of duties. Cross-trained to perform certain duties of the Member and Constituent Services Specialist and functions in netFORUM.

External: Has regular contact with student members, section leadership and volunteers, and outside vendors. Has regular contact with ECS Section/Division Chairs, faculty advisors, corporate partners, and members.

PREREQUISITES FOR THE JOB
  1. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; 3-5 years work experience required; prior chapter, education, and program development/management skills strongly preferred
  2. Strong and mature interpersonal skills with an ability to lead, influence, and motivate others, including internal & external stakeholders
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills to craft detailed communications pieces to various stakeholders
  4. Experience in learning management system (LMS) and association management software (AMS); netForum/Community Brands preferred. 
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple competing deadlines, especially with regard to planning and execution of special projects during time-critical assignments, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  6. Highly detail-oriented and organized
  7. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to use good judgment and confidence in decision-making
  8. Must be able to work with a team and independently
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  2. Travel is required both domestically and internationally up to 4-8 days per trip.
  3. Must be able to bend, lift, reach, and stand for long periods of time.
  4. Requires ability to meet critical deadlines and goals under high-pressure demand; includes nights and weekends.
  5. May be expected to lift boxes and other collateral materials of up to 20 pounds.
  6. Employee will be required to perform essential duties in a non-office setting including but not limited to biannual and other meetings or events.
