Featuring the 2022 Nanocarbons Division SES Young Investigator Awardee: Ardemis Boghossian

Award Lecture: Synthetic Biology Approaches for Overcoming Bottlenecks in Optical Nanocarbon Technologies

Ardemis Boghossian is Head of the Laboratory of Nanobiotechnology and Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Professor Boghossian implements a highly interdisciplinary approach to develop novel technologies that exploit the synergy between nanotechnology and synthetic biology. She received her BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2007, and in 2012, received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the supervision of Michael S. Strano. Pursuing research in protein engineering as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow in the Frances H. Arnold Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, Prof. Boghossian applied methods of directed evolution to engineer cells that can electronically interface with electrodes.
