Symposium focus: The symposium covers the advances in electrochemical and electroless growth of thin films and nanostructures, including fundamentals, methods, and application. The aim is to review recent basic science research and technological innovations related to the synthesis and properties of electrodeposited metals, alloys, metal oxides and compounds, including 2D and 3D nanostructures. The focus is also on applications of electroless deposition in electronics, energy conversion, aerospace, biomedical, and automotive industry future directions.

Topics of interest include:

  • Thin-film growth: Under-potential deposition; methods for atomic/nanoscale control of morphology and structure; electrodeposition of alloys.
  • Electroless deposition: Principles and applications; metallization of non-conductive surfaces.
  • Deposition methods and approaches to control microstructure (texture and grain size), mechanical, and electrical properties.
  • Electrochemical design of tailored (nano) and mesoporous structures: Dealloying, electrochemical, and chemical processing; electrochemical anodization at surfaces and generation of nanostructures.

As a part of the ELDP Centennial Celebration, this symposium features invited speakers reflecting on past achievements and future perspectives in these exciting areas of electrodeposition research.
