Symposium focus: “Dynamic Exciton” is a new concept in photochemistry. Here, “exciton” is an umbrella term focusing on a hole-electron pair in locally excited, charge-transfer (CT) and charge-separated states for comprehensive CT photochemistry. More importantly, movement of atomic nuclei including vibration, rotation, and fluctuation, as well as their collective motions, are entangled dynamically with behavior of electrons and spins by the passage of time in molecular donor-acceptor systems. This will lead to the creation of emerging science and innovation such as high-performance organic light-emitting diodes, organic photovoltaics, cell manipulation, and photoredox catalysts.
