Spotlight on Kody D. Wolfe, Ardavan Zanganeh, Richard N. Arthur, Jason P. Trembly, and Damilola A. Daramola for their article, “Considerations for Electrochemical Phosphorus Precipitation: A Figures of Merit Approach.” Electrochemical phosphorus precipitation (EPP) from wastewater is a promising emerging technology for recovering valuable nutrients. While there are significant advantages of EPP compared to traditional phosphorus recovery, large gaps in reported performance exist between EPP and industrial methods. Consult the current issue of ECS Interface to learn what the authors believe is the key to closing these gaps.
ECS seeks self nominations for the position of Technical Editor for the Journal of The Electrochemical Society in the Fuel Cells, Electrolyzers, and Energy Conversion topical interest area (TIA).
Nominees for these positions must possess and maintain scientific knowledge of the scope of the topical interest area. Specific topics include, but are not limited to: (more…)
Spotlight on Matthew Liu and William Tarpeh for their contribution to The Electrochemical Society Interface summer issue: “Reports from the Frontier: Electrifying Chemical Transformations and Separations to Valorize Wastewater Nitrogen.”
The authors address “…treating nitrogen as a resource to recover rather than simply a pollutant to remove aligns with the US National Academy of Engineering’s call to manage the nitrogen cycle, a challenge central to chemical manufacturing and ecosystem protection.” (more…)

A hot topic and emerging technology in the scientific community is the development of biosensors for organ-on-chip (OOC) devices. As research on OOCs continues expanding, so does the pressing need to integrate novel sensing approaches beyond spectroscopic, enzymatic, and voltametric platforms. There is a concurrent and growing need for scholarly content that supports advances in disease model development, drug screening, toxicology, pathogenesis studies, efficacy testing, and virology. Help The Electrochemical Society disseminate content in this area by making us your home for publishing gold open-access content on biosensors for OOCs. Reviews, perspectives, methods, and research articles on this topic are welcome. Submit today!
June 23 is the 105th year of International Women in Engineering Day. On that day, ECS honors the achievements, global impact, and advancements of women in the areas of science and engineering! Read ECS publications elevating the work of women in electrochemistry.
The Electrochemical Society (ECS) is firmly committed to encouraging and celebrating the contributions of women to the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, and ensuring that the Society voices a spirit of belonging and welcomeness to women in all spaces the Society serves.
