Symposium L08 – Microfluidic Electrochemistry
Symposium focus: Microfluidics as a means to develop an inkjet printhead emerged in the 1980s. Soon the electrical and eventually electrochemical component of the controlled transport, where surface forces dominate volumetric forces, became apparent. The first article related to microfluidics channel restriction in the Journal of The Electrochemical Society was published in 2004 (Polk et al. 151 [2004] C559). Since then, microfluidics has been a regular topic of ECS meeting presentations.

The Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology (BCST) is holding its fall board meeting on November 8, 2022, from 1400-1700h EST. You are invited to join the public portion of this meeting on alternative chemistries for advanced batteries. In addition to a project introduction, there will also be several presentations on the circular economy for energy materials, critical materials for the clean energy transition, and opportunities for chemistry in energy storage for climate change. Additionally, there will be discussions between BCST and the various presenters speaking during the meeting.
The event is free and virtual

The Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells & Electrolyzers 22 (PEFC&E 22) symposium at the 242nd ECS Meeting hosted its annual student poster competition on October 10, 2022. Some 30 students submitted posters to the competition. Dr. James (Jim) Fenton led the group of senior fuel cell and electrolysis researchers, which judged the posters for technical content and visual presentation.
ECS and PEFC&E 22 thank the Office of Naval Research, the competition’s funder. A total of USD $3,000 was awarded for four prizes. Join Dr. Karen Swider Lyons, PEFC&E 22 symposium chair, in congratulating the winners!
