Yirui Zhang Receives 2023 Energy Technology Division Graduate Student Award Sponsored by BioLogic

She presented her award talk, “Probing and Engineering Electrode-Electrolyte Interfaces in Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion” on May 30, 2023.

The Energy Technology Division Graduate Student Award Sponsored by BioLogic was established in 2012 to recognize and reward promising young engineers and scientists in fields pertaining to this division. The award is intended to encourage recipients to initiate or continue careers in this field. The winner receives a framed award certificate, USD $1,000 prize, and complimentary meeting registration. The recipient presents a lecture in an ETD division-sponsored symposium at the Society meeting where the award is presented.

2022 ECS Corrosion Division Morris Cohen Student Award Winner Recognized

The recipient, Dr. Mariko Kadowaki of the National Institute for Materials Science presented her award talk, “Microscopic Electrochemical Properties of Carbon Steels and Metallurgical Approach for High Corrosion Resistance,” on October 11, 2022.
The Electrochemical Society continues welcoming new student chapters into our supportive, global community. On October 13, 2022, the Board of Directors approved the chartering of six new student chapters; the Society now has 123 student chapters around the world.

Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells & Electrolyzers 22 Poster Competition Winners

The Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells & Electrolyzers 22 (PEFC&E 22) symposium at the 242nd ECS Meeting hosted its annual student poster competition on October 10, 2022. Some 30 students submitted posters to the competition. Dr. James (Jim) Fenton led the group of senior fuel cell and electrolysis researchers, which judged the posters for technical content and visual presentation.
ECS and PEFC&E 22 thank the Office of Naval Research, the competition’s funder. A total of USD $3,000 was awarded for four prizes. Join Dr. Karen Swider Lyons, PEFC&E 22 symposium chair, in congratulating the winners!

ECS Announces 2022 San Francisco Section Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award Recipients
Posted on August 30, 2022 by Genevieve GoldyCongratulations to Julie Fornaciari, winner of the ECS San Francisco Section 2022 Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award, and to Rachel Zhuojun Huang and Matthew Liu who received Honorable Mentions.
The Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award recognizes a deserving undergraduate student from a college or university in Northern California pursuing a career in the physical sciences. First prize recipients receive an etched metal plaque and $2,000 prize. The section also recognizes up to two students with honorable mentions. They receive framed certificates and $500 prizes.
