Two student members were among the 20 society, division, and section award winners recognized at the PRiME 2024 meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. ECS student awards support and provide opportunities for students as they progress in their careers, acknowledging their dedication and outstanding achievements in electrochemical and solid state science and technology.
Battery Division Student Research Award Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Research & Development
Eric Fell of Harvard University received the 2024 award in recognition of his contributions to developing high-throughput electrochemical characterization of aqueous organic redox flow batteries, demonstrating decadal projected lifetimes for active species, and in situ electrosynthetic regeneration of degraded active species. He presented his award talk, “High-Throughput Electrochemical Characterization of Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries,” on October 8 during the meeting. Learn more about Eric.
Corrosion Division Morris Cohen Graduate Student Award
Michael Strebl of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is the 2024 recipient of this award recognizing outstanding graduate research in corrosion science and/or engineering. Strebl was singled out for the award for his significant research contributions to corrosion science and engineering, including the development of innovative techniques (respirometry) for real-time monitoring of corrosion reactions and for elucidating mechanisms of corrosion processes for both atmospheric and immersion corrosion conditions. He presented his award talk, “Respirometric Monitoring of Corrosion,” on October 8. Learn more about Michael.
