ECS Canada Section Student Award
The award recognizes promising young engineers and scientists in the field of electrochemical power sources in Canada. Recipients are students pursuing PhDs at Canadian universities in any area of science or engineering in which electrochemical science and technology and/or solid state science and technology are the central consideration. Through this award, the section encourages recipients to initiate or continue careers in the field.
Yue Zhang
Yue Zhang received her MS from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and began PhD studies at the University of British Columbia–Okanagan Campus (UBC) in September 2019. She is taking a leading role in developing cleaner, safer, and more powerful batteries in Dr. Jian Liu’s Advanced Materials for Energy Storage Group. Zhang has made exceptional progress in pushing the boundaries for next-generation batteries. As first author, she has published research findings in top-tier journals, including Advanced Functional Materials, Nano Energy, Energy Storage Materials, Small, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Carbon, and others. Recognizing her part in the new energy frontier, UBC invited her to participate in the 2022 UBC Campaign Forward. Among the many awards she has received are the 2022 UBC Okanagan Graduate Research Scholarship; 2022 PICS Award for Leadership in Engaged Research; 2022 Best Paper Award Sponsored by Neware; 2021 Mitacs Globalink Research Award; 2021 ECS Canada Section Fall Symposium Oral Presentation Award; 2020 and 2021 UBC University Graduate Fellowships, and 2013 and 2017 Chinese National Scholarships.
