Planned Giving

Build Your Legacy with ECS

You’ve been involved with ECS for a long time: attending meetings, submitting papers, sitting on committees, maybe even serving on the board. Thank you for everything you do to help our Society thrive. To expand your impact and create a lasting legacy with ECS, while benefitting you or your family, we encourage you to think about making a planned gift.

Planned giving simply means you arrange to make a contribution to ECS, either outright or deferred. With a planned gift you can:

  • Support your charitable interests while maintaining control over your assets during your lifetime
  • Make a larger contribution than might otherwise be possible, thanks to careful tax planning or the passage of time
  • Earn a full charitable deduction on estate taxes
  • Arrange for your heirs to receive lifetime income from a charitable trust with the remainder going to ECS for charitable purposes

It’s never too early to begin planning. Explore your options.

Introducing the Carl Hering Legacy Circle

Carl Hering Legacy SocietyCarl Hering was one of the founding members in attendance at the first ECS meeting in Philadelphia in 1902. During his life, Dr. Hering served the Society in all of its principal offices. President of the Society from 1906-1907, Hering missed only five of the 49 ECS meetings held in his lifetime and served continuously on the Society’s Board of Directors until his death on May 10, 1926.

Dr. Hering not only left a legacy of commitment to the Society, but, through a bequest to ECS, he also left a financial legacy. His planned gift—the first made to ECS—continues to support the Society to this day and inspired us to create this planned giving recognition circle in his honor.

The Hering Legacy Circle recognizes individuals who have participated in any of ECS’s Planned Giving Programs—including bequests, life income arrangements, other deferred gifts, and IRA charitable rollovers. Current members include:
