Leadership Collections

ECS leadership collections are journal volumes named through fundraising gifts. They commemorate the contributions and legacies of distinguished leaders throughout the Society’s history. ECS is grateful for the generosity of the donors who make these collections possible.

2018 – The Chung Chiun Liu Collection

The content of the 2018 volume of JES is dedicated to Chung Chiun Liu, the Wallace R. Persons Professor of Sensor Technology & Control at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Liu has been an ECS member for over 50 years, during which he has given many oral presentations and organized several symposia for Society meetings. In addition to numerous forms of recognition, he is also the recipient of the ECS Sensor Division Outstanding Achievement Award. Learn more about Chung Chiun Liu.


2015 – The Robert F. Savinell Collection

The content of the 2015 Archive is designated the Robert F. Savinell Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. Dr. Savinell is an ECS Fellow and editor of the Journal of the Electrochemical Society. He is active on several ECS committees, including the Publications Subcommittee and the Committee on the Free Dissemination of Research. Learn more about Dr. Savinell.

 


2014 – The Paul A. Kohl Collection

The content of the 2014 Archive is designated the Paul A. Kohl Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. Dr. Kohl is currently serving as President (2014-2015), former editor of the Journal of The Electrochemical Society, and a Fellow of ECS. Learn more about Dr. Kohl.

 

 


2011 – The William Brown Collection

The content of the 2011 Archive is designated the William Brown Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. Dr. Brown is a past president (2010-2011), past Treasurer (1998-2002), and a Fellow of ECS. Learn more about Dr. Brown.

 

 


1999 – The Battery Division Collection

The content of the 1999 Archive is designated the Battery Division Collection in gratitude for its generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. The Division is active in sponsoring symposia, publishing abstracts and proceedings, and bestowing awards based on research and technology relating to batteries and fuel cells. 1996 – The K.M. Abraham Collection

The content of the 1996 Archive is designated the K.M. Abraham Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. Dr. Abraham is an ECS Fellow, and has been active in ECS leadership, having served on the ECS Board of Directors from 2006-08, as Chair of the Battery Division, and Chair of the Boston Section. 1995 – The James Amick Collection

The content of the 1995 Archive is designated the James Amick Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. Dr. Amick is a past president (1994-1995), an Emeritus member, and a Fellow of ECS. Learn more about Dr. Amick.

 

 


1994 – The Robert Frankenthal Collection

The content of the 1994 Archive is designated the Robert Frankenthal Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. 1993 – The Wayne Worrell Collection

1991 – The E. Jennings Taylor Collection

The content of the 1991 Archive is designated the E. Jennings Taylor Collection in gratitude for his generous gift which helped make the Archive possible. 1983 – The Frederick Strieter Collection

1979 – The Dennis Turner Collection

The content of the 1979 Archive is designated the Dennis Turner Collection in gratitude for the generous gifts his colleagues provided to make the Archive possible. Dr. Turner is a past president (1978-1979), past Secretary (1968-1974), an Honorary Member of ECS and was elected a Fellow of ECS in 1992, the same year he received the Edward Goodrich Acheson Award. 1971 – The Charles W. Tobias Collection

The content of the 1971 Archive is designated the Charles W. Tobias Collection in gratitude for the generous gift from his widow, Katalin Voros, which helped make the Archive possible. Dr. Tobias was a president of ECS (1970-1971), a recipient of the Acheson medal and Prize, the Henry B. Linford Award, the Vittorio de Nora Diamond-Shamrock Award, and was an Honorary member of ECS.
