The Ernest B. Yeager Electrochemistry Award of the ECS Mid-America Section is awarded once every two years (in even years) to an individual in recognition of significant contributions to the advancement of electrochemistry in the Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky region of the United States. This award was previously offered by the ECS Cleveland Section, now merged into the Mid-America Section.
Eligibility criteria
The nominee fulfills one (1) or more of the following:
- Made a significant contribution to fundamental electrochemical science and engineering and other relevant research areas;
- Had a distinguished career as an educator or researcher.
Requirements:
- Made contributions while working in the U.S. or Canada;
- ECS Mid-America Section member.
U.S. or Canadian citizenship is not a requirement.
Nomination guidelines
Candidates may be self nominated or nominated by others.
A complete nomination packet includes:
- Completed electronic Award Nomination Form;
- Curriculum vitae listing publications and work experience;
- Brief outline of accomplished research and contributions to ECS’s and the ECS Mid-America Section’s activities;
- Two (2) letters of recommendation.
Members of the Mid-America Section Ernest B. Yeager Electrochemistry Award Committee may not submit nominations or letters of support during their terms of service on the committee.
Award
The award consists of:
- Award certificate;
- USD $1,000.
About Ernest B. Yeager
Ernest B. Yeager (1924-2002) dedicated 50 years to advancing the field of electrochemical science and mentoring and advising students at Case Western University (CWRU), where he single-handedly established an electrochemical science and technology powerhouse. The professor and students are credited with the initial development of the sodium amalgam-oxygen fuel cell. In addition to many published articles, Prof. Yeager edited The Electrochemical Society Monograph, Electrode Processes.
