ECS Announces August 2024 Editorial Appointments and Re-Appointment

Appointments bolster ECS’s commitment to innovation and excellence

The ECS Publications team is thrilled to announce the approval of six pivotal motions, marking an exciting phase of growth and expertise for the Joint Journal Editorial Board. These appointments, set to commence in August 2024, include the addition of five new members (Amy Bazylak, Katja Fröhlich, Kent Zheng, Olja Simoska, and Pietro Papa Lopes) and the re-appointment (commencing in November 2024) of dedicated Associate Editor Michael Adachi. This influx of talent underscores ECS’s commitment to advancing research and innovation in electrochemical and solid state science.

Aimy Bazylak, Associate Editor, Journal of The Electrochemical Society

First, the motion put forth by Robert Savinell welcomes Aimy Bazylak of the University of Toronto as an Associate Editor for the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES) focusing on the Fuel Cells, Electrolyzers, and Energy Conversion topical interest area. Aimy’s term—starting September 1, 2024—promises to infuse fresh perspectives and drive forward the journal’s mission in these crucial areas of research.

Katja Fröhlich, Associate Editor, ECS Sensors Plus

Katja Fröhlich of the Austrian Institute of Technology joins as an Associate Editor for ECS Sensors Plus, following a motion by Ajit Khosla. Katja’s term—set to begin on August 19, 2024—is eagerly anticipated to bring strong expertise in sensor technology to the forefront, fostering innovative solutions and advancements in this dynamic field.

Kent Zheng, Associate Editor, ECS Advances

Kent Zheng of the University of Texas at Austin, appointed by Rohan Akolkar, will serve as an Associate Editor for ECS Advances. Kent’s term—starting on August 19, 2024—is expected to bolster the journal’s reach and impact, leveraging profound knowledge and research acumen to guide groundbreaking studies and publications.

Michael Adachi, Associate Editor, ECS Sensors Plus

Reaffirming many valued contributions, Michael Adachi of Simon Fraser University has been re-appointed as an Associate Editor for ECS Sensors Plus. Michael’s continued tenure—in a new term to begin on November 12, 2024—highlights an unwavering dedication and the significant impact of his work on the journal’s success.

Olja Simoska, Associate Editor, ECS Sensors Plus

Additionally, Olja Simoska of the University of South Carolina, also appointed by Ajit Khosla, joins as an Associate Editor for ECS Sensors Plus. Olja joins ECS on August 19, 2024, and is poised to enhance the journal’s editorial strength, driven by expertise and innovative vision in sensor technology.

Pietro Papa Lopes, Associate Editor, ECS Advances

Last, Pietro Papa Lopes of Argonne National Laboratory, appointed by Rohan Akolkar, will serve as an Associate Editor for ECS Advances starting September 1, 2024. Pietro’s appointment is anticipated to significantly contribute to the journal’s mission of disseminating cutting-edge research and fostering scientific excellence.
